The Saratoga County Cadet Program is designed to provide exciting and challenging training along with on-the-job experience for young people interested in a career in law enforcement. The cadets participate in many phases of police work and training, but are not placed in dangerous law enforcement situations. The Saratoga County Cadet Program is one of the best ways for youth to become involved with their community in a positive way and learn about law enforcement at the same time!
Cadets are trained in many different areas of police work. They receive an overview of areas such as:
– Traffic Control
– Radio Procedures
– Collision Reconstruction
– First Aid
– Traffic Laws
– Criminal Laws
– Crime Prevention
– General Police Procedures
– Physical Conditioning
To become a Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office Cadet, you must meet the following requirements:
√ Be between the ages of 14 and 20 (must have completed the 8th grade)
√ Maintain at least a “C” average in all schoolwork through the 12th grade
√ Have no serious arrests or convictions
√ Maintain good moral character
√ Pass a background investigation
√ Demonstrate willingness to serve your community and participate in Cadet activities.
