Project Lifesaver

Project Lifesaver is a program that helps locate individuals that are at risk of wandering. This includes individuals with Autism, Down Syndrome and Alzheimer’s. Families are issued a radio frequency transmitter that is typically warn on the wrist or ankle. In the event the individual wanders, the Sheriff’s Office would respond to the scene with a receiver designed to locate the transmitter. The transmitters are waterproof with a 60 day battery life, requiring little maintenance for the families. In addition, basic client information including a picture will be stored at the Sheriff’s Office for quick access by the 911 communication center, in the event of an emergency.
